11/25: Upper Body Workout, Interval Training & My First Giveaway!

Happy day-before-turkey day! This is the day that I finally decided to switch up my workout and I decided to do an upper body/lower body workout split. I had no idea what I was going to do for a workout today until I got downstairs, put my sneakers on and started flipping through some fitness magazines.

Today was the upper body workout. I’ve done this workout combo in the past and it’s actually from the January/February 2009 issue of Muscle and Fitness Hers. The upper body workout and the lower body workout are performed a total of 2 times each week for a total of 4 workouts. For this particular workout program, cardio follows each and every workout. Upper body workout day includes interval training and lower body workout day is steady state cardio.

In just a few days, I will be having my very first giveaway – more on that below (following the workouts).

Upper Body Workout

*For each workout I completed 3 sets of 12 reps, except where noted

Chest

  • Incline Dumbbell Press: 10#
  • Flat Bench Dumbbell Flye: 10#

Back

  • Seated Row: 45#

Shoulders

  • Overhead Dumbbell Press: 10#
  • Lateral Raise: 5#

Triceps

  • Dumbbell Lying Triceps Extension: 10#, 4 sets x 12 reps

Biceps

  • Dumbbell Curl: 10#, 4 sets x 12 reps

Cardio Workout

Warmup for 5 minutes @ 5.5 mph

30 second sprint (9 mph), 60 second recovery (4 mph) – repeat for 15 minutes

Cool down for 5 minutes @ 5.5 mph – that did NOT feel like a cool down!

A Lil Info on My Very First Giveaway!

In the coming days I will be having my first giveaway, ever and I’m so excited! If all goes well I plan on having regular giveaways for my blog readers. It will be open to residents of the United States only to avoid high shipping charges and having to deal with customs and all that. It’s something you can keep for yourself or give as a gift. Although…I’m not sure I’d want to receive a bathroom scale as a gift. I’d wonder what the gift giver was trying to tell me. But basically just know that you can do with it whatever you’d like and of course the winner won’t be charged for shipping.

So what is the giveaway prize? It’s going to be a digital bathroom scale! Stay tuned to my fitness blog for an upcoming post that will provide all of the details and rules of entry. If you aren’t currently subscribed to my blog, feel free to sign up using the subscription box above. I never send anything spammy and you’ll only receive an email when I have written a new post. =)
