Shake Weight: What is this Ridiculous, Suggestive Piece of Exercise Equipment?
If you have yet to set your eyes upon the Shake Weight ($19.95), you have been missing out! I’m not just saying that because it’s a great workout (because I don’t believe that), but more-so because of how ridiculous it is and it’ll make just about anybody laugh because it’s so silly. Even Ellen featured it on her show for a good laugh. (Video Below)
The shake weight is a 2.5 dumbbell-like piece of equipment that vibrates. It promises to tone the entire upper body, including the arms, shoulders and chest in just 6 minutes a day.
From the Shake Weight site:
An Independent Scientific Study shows that the Shake Weight causes more EMG activity than the traditional dumbbells of the same weight. This is a result of the unique motion of the exercise, isometric contraction of the entire upper body required during use of the Shake Weightâ„¢ and the rapid pace of the muscle fatigue caused by one unique movement.
It has been specifically designed for women and even comes with a toning DVD. It looks ridiculous. I haven’t personally tried it, but I think holding a vibrating dumbbell would be annoying. You can get great results from dumbbells without them vibrating. It definitely is for real, they’re really selling it, but I would never buy this workout tool for myself or anybody else I know. I think we all know of better things we could spend our hard-earned money on.
