Perky Jerky Review: What I Think of This New Caffeinated Beef Jerky

I was recently turned on to Perky Jerky. Doesn’t that sound dirty? This stuff is so good. Basically, Perky Jerky is an all natural beef jerky formulated with guarana which contains twice the amount of caffeine as a coffee bean. It’s caffeinated beef jerky! It makes a really great, low fat, low carb, high protein snack.

I was given the opportunity to sample Perky Jerky, but before I get into that, here is some information about the ingredients and nutritional information.

• 150 milligrams of caffeine in each 2 oz. bag
• Flavored with Guarana
• 100% all natural beef

• Calories: 90
• Protein: 11 grams
• Fat: 2 grams (0 trans fat)
• Carbs: 6 grams
• Sugar: 5 grams

Taste

Perky Jerky has an incredible taste. My husband tried it too and said it was the absolute best beef jerky he’s ever had. And he’s a man so you know he’s had his fair share of the jerky stuff. We were amazed by how moist it was. It wasn’t dry like a lot of the other kinds we’ve had before. We seriously marveled over it and then laughed at ourselves because well…it’s just beef jerky.

Energy

Neither one of us noticed any difference as far as any increase in energy. Being a caffeinated beef jerky, I thought I might feel a little something – especially since I’m normally so sensitive to caffeine – but I really didn’t notice any increase as far as energy goes. I normally take a 200 milligram capsule of caffeine prior to cardio workouts and Perky Jerky contains 150 milligrams per bag. Maybe if I were to eat 2 bags, I would be able to feel an increase in energy. It didn’t make me sleepy though if that accounts for anything.

Yay or Nay?

YAY! I think this is the best beef jerky I’ve ever tasted, although I didn’t really notice any difference in energy levels. For the taste alone though, I would definitely choose this beef jerky over the other popular brands. My husband prefers it and our 21-month-old son loved it too. Isn’t the name great? Perky sounds a lot more fun than beef!
