Online Calorie Counter: My Fitness Pal
If you are looking for an online calorie counter, I highly recommend My Fitness Pal. They not only offer an online calorie counter, but food and exercise logs as well. I came across this website a couple of months ago and completely forgot about it. I have 4 kids to run after, plus 2 dogs so my mind is always working and I’m great at forgetting things.
To use their tools, you need to register. You’ll simply need your name and email address. Once you’re logged in, you can enter in your current height, weight and sex (male or female) and go on to create your personal diet profile. You will then enter the amount of weight you wish you to gain, or lose. You can also choose an option related to maintaining your current weight. Once you enter that info in, the program will calculate the number of calories you need to eat and also the number of calories you need to burn each day, to meet your goal.
Here’s a screenshot of the online calorie counter/food diary:

You enter everything you eat over the course of a day in this chart and the calories, carbs, fat and protein will automatically populate if the food is in their system. If you find something that isn’t entered, you can enter it manually. Now you can see how many calories you have left for the day. This will help to prevent you from overeating.
Here’s a screenshot of the exercise diary:

On this form, you enter in all of the physical activity you do during the course of a day. They have 2 separate sections here:
- Cardiovascular
- Strength Training
By filling in the exercises you do, you will be able to see how many calories you’ve burned. You’ll also be able to see what your weekly goal is and where you currently are in relation to your personal goal.
This is one of the many online calorie counter programs available online, but I recommend it because it’s free, and it also has food and exercise diaries which you can print out and place in a binder if you choose.
