FitBlogs is a website that I recently stumbled upon and they provide a weekly topic, referred to as Fit Points, that I will be participating in. This is my very first ‘Fit Point‘ and I will continue to post on the topic they provide each week. You’re welcome to join in on the fun as well. See below for more details.
There are many different things that can help keep you motivated and striving for the best. Working out regularly and eating healthy is easy to start but it’s a huge  challenge to actually stick with it for the long term and the long term is what fitness and living a healthy lifestyle is all about.
This is the very reason why you need to make sure that you have motivation to carry you through it – especially when things get tough.
One of the things that motivate me are other fitness enthusiasts. They clearly know what they’re doing and are getting great results which motivates me to do better and work harder.
Here are my top 5 fitness idols:
- My husband. He’s the reason I really got into lifting and eating healthier. I’ve always eaten pretty healthy but I look up to my husband because he works out regularly and it’s obvious when you look at his physique. Seeing him getting the results he’s after is proof that you can get real results if you’re serious and motivated enough.
- Nicole Wilkins Lee. She was the first female fitness model competitor that I had ever heard of. I don’t remember where it was that I first saw her but I’m positive it was in either Oxygen or Muscle and Fitness Hers. I am truly inspired by her and she’s proof that women can workout without getting “bulky”. That is one myth I wish so badly that women would get out of their heads.
- Jamie Eason. The first time I saw Jamie was actually in ads and articles on the Bodybuilding.com website. Now she is a regular contributor to Oxygen Magazine and she has really interesting advice, tips and perspectives. I adore her because she’s fought back from cancer, because she’s in incredible shape and also because she’s a writer. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I make a living by writing words.
- Gina Carano. If you haven’t heard of Gina Carano it’s either because you didn’t watch American Gladiators or because you aren’t into MMA. Gina was featured in one of the issues of Muscle & Fitness that my husband received and I fell in love with her from the beginning. I admire her for competing in a sport that is more of a “men’s” sport and I think she’s opened the doors for upcoming female fighters which is exciting. I love MMA.
- Mindi Smith. Mindi Smith was featured in a previous issue of Muscle and Fitness Hers which is where I first heard of her. She is an IFBB Figure Professional, a model, actress and host. Besides the fact that we share the same name I really love her shape. She’s strong and muscular yet still very feminine.
These are currently my top fitness idols and all of them inspire me to work harder and just keep chugging along.
