Getting to Know Melinda (me)
I just married my husband Roger this past summer (7.25.09) and between the two of us, we have four children. We have one child together, I have one from a previous relationship and he has two. We also have an Olde English Bulldog named Diesel and a Mini Bulldog named Zuki.
Between the kids and the dogs, we are definitely kept very busy. My husband works full time as a welder and I work part time as an administrative assistant and I also write articles online and keep up this fitness blog.
Through my husband, my love of working out and staying in shape got me thinking about how I could learn more about fitness and nutrition. This past summer I decided to begin an online fitness program to become a certified personal trainer. My goal is to be certified by March of 2009.
How I Got Started with all of this Working Out Stuff
As a child I was very active, having played soccer for 9 years. My sophomore year of high school was the last year I played for a number of personal reasons and I never became regularly active again until I met my husband. He has always been into working out and seeing him get the results he was looking for made me strive to do the same thing for myself. After I had our son, I put the pedal to the metal and got to work to lose the pregnancy pounds.
It took me over a year to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and now I actually weigh more than that, but I’m more solid thanks to my dedication to strength training.
Why I Started this Blog
Originally I started this blog back in June of 2008 to track my workouts, my feelings and my thoughts about getting back in shape. Once I actually started to get readers who enjoyed what I was writing about, I now write not only for myself, but to help others too. One of the many reasons I stay motivated to workout is because I know I have a blog that needs to be updated on a regular basis. The emails I receive from some of my readers are so heart-warming and they help to keep me focused. So, thank you. Truly, from the bottom of my heart.
The Future of my Fitness Blog
In the past, I have mainly concentrated on blogging about each and every workout that I do. More recently, as I start to learn more about the sport and healthy living in general, I have begun to write articles and blog posts about fitness and nutrition to share with my blog readers. In the near future, I hope to have links up here to all of the fitness-related articles I’ve written online. I would also love to have an area dedicated to strength training exercises and how to do them properly. It will take some time to get it all together, but I plan on starting it very soon.
