A lot of people wonder if they can lose weight by walking. The answer is that of course you can lose weight by walking but the calories burned jogging are obviously going to be higher than if you were to walk for the same amount of time. Have you ever tested the amount of calories you burn in 30 minutes each of jogging and walking? I have! You can easily figure it out online too using a calculator or by performing a test on a treadmill or elliptical machine. Once you see the results, you may be motivated to pick up your pace a lil bit the next time you’re due for a cardio workout.
Like I said before, calories burned jogging are higher than walking for the same amount of time, but by how much? According to my test, I burned 164 calories after walking for 30 minutes at a pace of 4 mph. That is kind of a fast walk – especially for me I guess because my legs aren’t very long. The calories burned jogging for 30 minutes at a pace of about 5.4 mph was 224. I really wasn’t moving that much faster and that is a pretty slow jog but I burned 60 additional calories just by picking up the pace.
In order to lose weight, your body needs a caloric deficit. If you are able to burn off 3500 calories in one week by walking, without changing your diet at all, you will have lost 1 pound. Kind of exciting huh? And if you improve your diet and take in just 100 calories less per day, then you’ll just need to burn an extra 2800 calories during the week to lose 1 pound.
Since more calories are burned jogging, consider a jog over a walk. It will take up less time to burn the same amount of calories then if you were to try to burn those calories by walking. We could all use a little extra time in our day right? If you really wanna get moving, try a pace of 6.5 mph!






Jogging is the best excercise than normal walking but you need to check with your doctor and know about your fitness level.
I would think also that you would burn more calories for a short period after jogging, as in theory the more intense the exercise, the more calories you burn after an exercise.
