A Look At Fat Loss Supplements Part 1: Caffeine

There are a ton of fat loss supplements on the market today that seem to promise the world. I’m going to feature a few different fat loss supplements over a few posts to share the pros/cons of each and whether they have been proven to work or not.

To kick off this series, I want to let you in on my favorite of all of the fat loss supplements, and that is caffeine. You may be thinking to yourself ‘caffeine as a fat loss supplement?’. I say yes. Caffeine is found in most fat burners and that is because it does help pick up the pace of your metabolism. But…I do not simply take a caffeine pill and sit back and let it do it’s thing. Since I’m fairly sensitive to caffeine, I just take 1 – 200mg tablet with a glass of water 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to physical activity, especially cardio. I have a really hard time with cardio because I find it to be incredibly boring, but caffeine helps and it also helps to rev up my energy levels which helps me get through my workouts.

Caffeine is dirt cheap compared to some of the fat loss supplements available right now. Being that the most active ingredient in fat loss supplements is almost always caffeine, why spend all the extra money for other ingredients that aren’t exactly necessary for fat loss?

Taking 1 to 3 caffeine pills prior to your cardio and/or strength training workouts can help give you the energy to train longer than normal, helping you to burn even more fat. It may help you to run faster and lift a bit heavier as well, thanks to the extra energy boost. All of this will help you in your quest to lose fat. You don’t have to spend $50-75 for a bottle of fat loss supplements. If you check the usage directions, you’ll usually find that you’re to take 3 to 6 pills a day – making that bottle of 90 pills for $50+, lasting about 1 month or less. Just 1 caffeine pill works fine for me, so my bottle of 90 tablets lasts me over 4 months since I only take them on workout days and the cost is less than $15.

If you’re interested in trying any fat loss supplements, I would start with caffeine. It’s the cheapest available and it doesn’t contain any other ingredients.
