1/23 Workout: Heavy Legs & Abs

Updated Abs PhotoToday was leg day. For my last leg workout I used a lighter weight and did higher reps, but today I decided to start going heavy and I’m so glad I did! I was lifting far more than I thought I could and it makes me wish I had started lifting heavy a long time ago. I did skip cardio this week since I was lifting heavy because I didn’t want to overdo it.

I’d much rather skip running on leg day than do it anyway and then be unable to workout for 2 or 3 days because my muscles are so sore.

Leg Workout

  • Squats: Warm-up set – 35# x 15 reps, 3 sets x 5 reps, 75#
  • Deadlifts: Warm-up set – 55# x 15 reps, 3 sets x 5 reps, 85#
  • Leg Extensions: 2 Warm-up sets – 45# x 5 reps, 3 sets x 5 reps, 55#

Ab Workout

*I did a superset with the following exercises.

  • Weighted Crunches (straight arm): 3 sets x 25 reps, 8# dumbbell
  • Plank: 3 x 60 seconds
  • Rest for about 1 minute in between the superset

Now I must go clean up the house a bit because tomorrow the Vikes play in the NFC Championship game and I won’t be cleaning during that! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!
