12/10 Workout: HIIT & Steady State Cardio

Today was another cardio workout day for me. It’s really starting to get easier which makes me pretty happy because I’ve always hated cardio – more specifically steady state cardio – but it really does start to get easier once your body gets used to running. I’m pleasantly surprised how much I’m actually starting to like it. I think just the first few times are tough when your body isn’t used to running for such a long time, but it will adapt and it doesn’t take real long.

HIIT Cardio Workout

I started with HIIT first:

  • 3 minute warm-up @ 4 mph
  • 15 minutes of 30 second sprints (9 mph)/60 second recovery (4 mph)
  • 2 minute cool-down @ 4 mph

Steady State Cardio Workout

Immediately following the HIIT workout, I did some steady state cardio:

  • 10 minutes of steady state cardio @ 5.5 mph
  • 2 minute cool-down @ 4 mph

Total Time: 32:00 minutes

Total Distance: 2.801 miles

Total Calories Burned: 329
