Since I finished my strength training workouts this week, today I decided to do some high intensity interval training (or HIIT). Gosh I love it! I almost felt heartbroken because it wasn’t a lifting day, but I don’t mind HIIT either. I haven’t done it for a few days and it felt good to really sweat it up again.
My quads were still sore from my last workout so I wasn’t able to sprint as fast as I wanted to, but I still finished the entire 20 minute workout. It always feels great getting in a good workout. In the process I went for a total distance of 1.64 miles and burned a total of 194 calories. Not too shabby, eh?
Here’s the entire HIIT workout:
3 minute warmup @ 4 mph
30 second sprint @ 10 mph (k, ouch! had to slow down…)
90 second recovery @ 4 mph
6 more intervals @ 8 mph sprints followed by 4 mph recovery periods
1 last sprinting interval @ 10 mph (ouch! again!)
2.5 minute cool down @ 4 mph
My next workout will be on Monday. Tomorrow is a rest day where I will be spending a good part of the day watching football. I’m sad because the Vikings have a bye week, but I think I’ll survive.
